Story

A group of dedicated fundraisers are taking on an incredible challenge this summer to support St. Rocco’s Hospice, marking its 40th year of providing free care to patients and their families. These fantastic individuals will set off at 6:00 AM on July 4th, embarking on an epic walk from Llandudno pier to the Rope and Anchor in Woolston Warrington. The Journey Llandudno pier to the Rope and Anchor in Warrington. Their route will cover approximately 75 miles: Day 1: Following the coastal path for 30 miles, reaching the River Dee in Chester. Day 2: Walking 15 miles to Frodsham. Then completing the final leg to Warrington for celebrations at the Rope and Anchor. This is no small feat! It’s a serious challenge requiring rigorous training, and they’ll be walking through the night with breaks every four hours. The team will be supported by two vehicles, including a nurse and a physio, to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being. Join the Challenge The fundraisers would love for the Warrington community and St. Rocco’s staff and volunteers to join them along sections of the route—or even the entire journey. Participants joining the final celebrations at the Rope and Anchor are kindly asked to donate £10 to the St. Rocco’s collection bucket, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the hospice. A History of Dedication These fundraisers are no strangers to a challenge. Over the years, they’ve cycled from Llandudno to Warrington, walked from Warrington to Salford, rowed, run, danced in a Full Monty performance, organised Santa pub crawls, and even hosted golf fundraisers—all for St. Rocco’s. Last year, their incredible efforts raised over £23,000, enough to fund a nurse for an entire year. How You Can Help St. Rocco’s Hospice relies on the generosity of the Warrington community to keep its doors open and provide compassionate care to those who need it most. Whether you join the walk, cheer the team along the route, or donate, your support makes a difference. Let’s rally behind these extraordinary individuals training hard through the winter months to complete this monumental challenge. Together, we can ensure St. Rocco’s continues to be a beacon of hope for patients and their families. Be part of the journey. Be part of the change—Fundraise for St. Rocco’s.
